"Open Garden" on the post-shipyard area in Gdansk

13 Jun 2014, 8:31

A seasonal community garden has been established under the Open Garden project on the post-shipyard area in Gdansk, which will function until the end of summer. The participants – mostly residents of neighboring streets: Robotnicza, Jaracza and Jana z Kolna - since March sowed, sprouted and planted herbs, flowers and vegetables in boxes, hand-made from recycled materials. In the next step, in June, the yields will be used for cooking together. As a result, a place will be created on the post-shipyard area, where neighboring residents will have the opportunity of collective actions, as well as spending time in space arranged by oneself. The project, carried out by the Austrian group Lendlabor and Wyspa Art Institute, is held with the support of BPTO. Its aim is to stimulate the local community and promote the art of backyard gardening, disappearing in cities. More information:
